I adopted Helen from Animals at Heart after she had been rescued from the street.
She's been in the newspaper twice and was invited to a banquet, at a ritzy hotel,

She was diagnosed with glaucoma and was in a lot of pain. The only way to make her
better was to have her eyes removed. After that was done, and she had recovered with
a foster family, they showcased her on TV, and I fell in love. I called to try to adopt
her but she had already been spoken for. I was very disappointed but was happy that
she had a home. Well, about three weeks later, I turned on the TV, and there she was
again! The family decided that they couldn't give her a proper home because they were
having to crate her all day while they were gone because she liked to chew stuff in the
house. I was overjoyed! I got right on the phone, and they said that I could adopt
her! I went right down, and after doing the paperwork and introducing her to
Baby & Shadow, my other dogs, I brought her home where she's been a big
part of our family for about three years now!
by the Jacksonville Humane Society and one of our local TV stations where she
was named Miracle Pet 2002. We were also asked to make a
video for Animals at
Heart that runs on cable to try to get other people to adopt special needs animals.
Helen is such a special girl! She has touched more lives than she will ever know.
She's just happy lounging on the couch or playing in the back yard. Many
people could really learn a lot from her because to be around her,
you would never know that she doesn't have any eyes.

Screen Name's Origin:I've had my darkjT screen name for about twelve years now.
I adopted the name and started using it as my screen name
and to mark my artwork. The dark part is derived from the fact
that I thrive at night. I would be happy if it was always dark. I
hate the sun and love the rain and dreary days. I've always slept
better during the day, and at night, I wake up and am most
productive. The j and T at the end are initials. I also
sometimes add "Twisted" before the darkjT because
I need more than one screen name. Those very close
persons to me, who have delved into the depths of
my mind, personality and lifestyle, think as do
I, that a little 'dark' and 'Twisted' suits
me perfectly.
Best Qualities:Gentility, Strength, Patience, Honesty,
Kindness, Respectfulness & Dependability.
Proudest Accomplishment:
I am very proud of the fact that I raised both of my
daughters to be wonderful and productive young women, who have
the same morals and values as myself and the same positive qualities.
That is the greatest thing that I've done over my lifetime, and even if
I never do anything else that matters, I can die very happy knowing
that they are my greatest achievements. My oldest, Jeni, has a very
good job of three years at a new home design center, and my
youngest, Jenene, is in college majoring in Radiology, and
has just gotten a very good job as a Radiology Technician's
Assistant at a major hospital. I am so very, very
proud to say that they are my daughters.
